Til the end My dear:

Arrangements of stravinsky

Available now STREAMING AND on bandcamp

Adam Minkoff's debut album, "Til The End My Dear: Arrangements of
Stravinsky" began as a live performance in New York City on the 100th
Anniversary of the premiere of Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.
Minkoff gathered this ecstatic ensemble to perform the piece in its
entirety. With one catch: he’d arranged it for an eight-piece
rock/jazz ensemble consisting of electric guitar and electric bass,
keyboard, drum kit, and four horns. Minkoff created said arrangements
himself by transcribing it from previous recordings or, as we say in
the vulgate, by ear.

To give some breadth to the record, Minkoff has added a few more
pieces to the ensemble's repertoire. All of it Stravinsky, all of it
beautiful and challenging, and all of it transcribed by ear.  "Suite
No. 1 for Orchestra" from 1925, and four vocal pieces written between
1917-1919, "Tilimbom", "Chant dissident", "Les canards, les cygnes,
les oies", and "Canard".

Each of these selections, turned out of their ordinary settings in
orchestral or chamber ensembles, are imbued with a hard to describe
radical vigorousness that was likely part of the excitement audiences
felt in hearing them for the first time a century or so ago. Indeed,
Minkoff’s re-orchestrations highlight the freshness, melodic
invention, and arch counterpoint which are so paramount to
appreciating Stravinsky’s contributions to modern music.
